Neighbourhoods

Three places, three ways to live

Choosing the street matters as much as choosing the house. Here is what each part of town is really like.

Sailing boats moored in a marina on a clear day, with houses along the far shore.

Harbourside

Boats, cafés and the ferry ten minutes away. Harbourside suits people who want to walk everywhere and hear the water at night. Homes are mostly two and three bedrooms, and the best ones rarely reach the open market.

Buying from abroad

Buy from far away without buying blind

Half my buyers live overseas or are coming home after years away. The process is built around that.

  1. Live video viewingsI walk every room on a call, open the cupboards and show you the street at night.
  2. A written report on each houseCondition, running costs, what the neighbours are like and what I would offer.
  3. A lawyer who works remotelyContracts by courier or e-signature, with deposits held in a client account.
  4. Keys when you landI meet you at the house, or hold the keys until you are ready.

What would the monthly payment be?

Estimated monthly payment$2,620On a loan of $388,000. An estimate only; your lender sets the real figure.

Thinking of selling?

An honest price, then a calm sale

No inflated valuations to win your listing. I show you the sales behind my number and we agree the plan together.

  1. Free valuation

I visit, walk the house with you and send a written price with the recent sales that support it.

  2. Photos that sell

Professional photography, a floor plan and a short film, booked within a week.

  3. Viewings handled

I host every viewing, follow up every buyer and tell you what they really said.

What clients say

  • We were buying from Toronto and could only fly in once. Maren did six video viewings, told us which house had a damp problem, and had the paperwork ready when we landed.

Priya and Daniel R.Bought in Harbourside
  • She priced our house honestly, not to win the listing. It sold in nineteen days to the second family who saw it, and we never had a weekend ruined by viewings.

    Tom WhitfieldSold in Old Town
  • First-time buyers, no idea what we were doing. Maren explained every step in plain words and answered texts at nine at night without making us feel silly.

About Maren

I grew up on The Hill and sold my first house on Quay Street

I started Harbour & Hill in 2012 after eight years at a big agency, because I wanted to look after fewer clients properly. I still answer my own phone, host my own viewings and write every listing myself.

When I am not working I am usually on the coast path with Juno, my very muddy spaniel.

Questions

Good to know

Something else on your mind? Ask in the form below and I will reply the same day.

How much does it cost to sell with you?

My fee is a percentage of the sale price, agreed in writing before we list, and you pay nothing unless the house sells. Photography, the floor plan and the listing video are included.

Can I buy a home without visiting first?

Yes, and many of my buyers do. I run live video viewings, send a written report on each house, and work with a local lawyer who handles signing by courier or e-signature. Most overseas buyers visit once, before or after the offer.

How long does a sale usually take?

From accepted offer to keys, plan for eight to twelve weeks. A cash buyer can be quicker. I keep a shared timeline so you always know what is next and who is doing it.

Do you help with rentals?

I sell homes. If you want to rent yours out after buying, I will introduce you to a property manager I trust and stay in touch while it settles.

What areas do you cover?

Harbourside, Old Town and The Hill, plus the villages along the coast road. If your home is outside those, I will tell you honestly and recommend someone who knows that patch.
